How to go viral on Youtube

Youtube has evolved into a self-broadcasting website and with video content uploading every second, there are an immense amount of videos that have the ability to be viewed and create movements and spread ideas across the world. As of current day, Youtube is the world's second largest search engine, as well as the third most visited website on the internet. To make your video stick out and attract attention there are steps to take when uploading a youtube video, to increase your chances of sharing a potential viral video.

  1. Set up a "marketing" plan- Before a company releases a product or idea, they form a strategic marketing plan deciding who their target market will be, how they will advertise their product at the correct times and locations, etc. Similarly, when creating a video, make sure to know that the length, and topic of the video will appeal to the audience of your interest. Tell a story, a funny dance, an animal video, something you believe will appeal to a wide range of people, but make sure to keep it at a shorter length, and get your point across, because if the video isn't worthy of the attention, it will diminish the ability to go viral.
  2. Use the right Keywords in your title- As important it is to use the title as the description for your video, throw in keywords or modifiers that will attract viewers to your video. For example, using popular words that will appeal to the viewers and add value to your video such as "Official" or "Epic". Make sure the title is short and sweet, with keywords that will attract the viewers of your liking. For instance, attracting a viewer from the millennial generation, use words that are popular within that segment.
  3. Add tags accordingly- When choosing tags be as broad and specific all at once, so that the viewer can fall upon your video when searching a tag. Include your brand name, but use tags that describe your video essentially. Begin with longer hashtags then decrease to more general and shorter tags. For example, if your video is about a cat jumping over a fence and failing, begin with #catjumpingoverfence, and lead that towards #cat #jumping. Keep it general, but don't go crazy with using tags that don't relate to your video at all, such as #shoe #store, because it might turn off the viewer from watching your video, as they might've been searching for a completely different topic.
  4. Get your video out there- As interpreted, do what step 4 says, and try to get more viewers, sharing posts on different social media outlets, and asking bloggers that are well-known, or simply friends and family to get your video out to potential videos, and that might turn into a domino effect, where the sharing of the video will create more attention towards it.

How YouTubers Make Money

The way YouTubers make is complicated. Different kind of content has to have different kinds of support.

AdSense is a way method to earn money that is available to all content creators who are part of the YouTube partner program. YouTube will consider partnering with a channel that reaches over 10,000 public views which isn't that hard. AdSense allows Content creators to make money off of every ad that is fully watched by their viewers. However, their payment depends on the CPM (count per thousand) that is decided by the advertisement company.

Branding deals is a way some content creators on YouTube make money. This is when a YouTuber would have a segment in their video where they talk about a product or service. Brand deals are not suitable for everyone. One YouTube channel that successfully incorporates branding deals in their videos is LinusTechTips. They are a company that mainly reviews new technology. They have branding deals with software companies like Tunnel Bear and Crunchyroll.

YouTubers can also work with companies on advertising/promoting/reviewing their products and services. Companies will pay YouTubers for these reviews, and or give them some of their products.
